Father's Day Recipe: Decadent Chocolate Protein Powder Cake

Father's Day is almost here and, to celebrate right, you're going to want some cake. But, of course, you want to treat Dad right and whip up something delicious that won't do any lasting harm.

Thankfully, there are some pretty incredible things you can do with chocolate protein powder these days. Here's a recipe for protein Black Forest cake, complete with protein frosting.

Slice of decadent protein powder chocolate cake on a plate in the middle of an empty table

Cake

  • 1 cup black beans, drained and cooked
  • 1/4 cup agave or honey
  • 1 cup egg whites
  • 1/2 cup Naked Chocolate Protein Powder (either casein or pea)
  • 1/2 cup milk (of choice)
  • 2 tbsp your sweetener of choice
  • 1 cup oats (gluten-free or regular)

    Frosting

Preheat your oven to 320 F. Combine all of the cake ingredients in a large bowl until the batter is smooth.

Pour the mixture in a prepare cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when stuck in the center of the cake. While that's baking, prepare the frosting by combining all the ingredients and stirring until smooth.

Once the cake is cooled, cut it in half horizontally and fill it with frosting. Reassemble the two pieces and frost the sides and top of the cake.
