It's pretty common knowledge that most commercial protein bars are little more than glorified candy bars. But that doesn't mean you can't get around this nutritional trap.
In fact, you can pretty easily craft your own protein bars that are healthy, nutritionally balanced and convenient – without all the extra stuff you don't want or need.
As a starting point, try out this chocolate peanut butter protein bar recipe.
- 1 ½ cup quick oats
- 3 scoops Less Naked Chocolate Protein Powder
- 1/2 cup rice crisps cereal
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/3 cup peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Prepare a baking dish with cooking spray and set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine all of the dry ingredients. Melt the honey and peanut butter in a small pan over medium heat, stirring frequently.
Remove from the heat once it's combined and add the vanilla. Pour the peanut butter mixture over the dry ingredients and thoroughly mix. Press the mixture into the baking dish.
Allow the dish to cool in the fridge for about 30 minutes before cutting into bars.
